Editorial Reviews
From the Manufacturer
Motion Activated Solar Floodlight is designed to reduce Energy bills. The Solar panel recharges the battery to ensure that the 13 watt Halogen bulb comes on every time. The Motion Sensor then controls when the light comes on and provides security to the consumer. The combination of both of these technologies create one of the best products in the market today.

Cooper Lighting MSL180 Motion Activated Solar Flood Light
I installed this solar light 6 weeks ago, I mounted it on a shed in the back yard where there is no power. Easy to install and lights up the area very well, I am very pleased with the results. I highly recommend it.
2 Lights - 2 Failures after 2 weeks
Needing some illumination by my front door I purchased this light in spring of 2008. The first unit lasted 2 weeks then failed. I exchanged it and the second unit did exactly the same thing. The light quality was good and it was easy to install. The motion sensor worked well and it was perfect for getting out keys and getting inside without worry.
The first unit was purchased from Amazon and the second unit from Lowe's. There was nothing unusual with my installation and I charged the unit fully as recommended by the manufacturer (whom I contacted, to no avail).
The unit failed by beginning to work only when the motion sensor was actively triggered, turning off the moment there was no motion in the sensor range. The second unit exhibited exactly the same behaviour and after 1 month has stopped working all together.
Great idea, lousy execution.
Cooper Solar Floodlight
GET THIS GREAT LIGHT. I read all the poor reviews, but they are wrong. I bought this light at Lowes, missed the sale, but bought it anyway. I placed it about 10 feet up on a barn, pointing down to a nearby gate to my dog pen. I spliced in some extra wire from the solar charger to the light, the light and charger are about 25 feet apart. The solar panel is attached to a South wall of the barn and gets lots of sunlight. I have had this for six months, and it works wonderful. I have set the motion detector pointing up high, so the dogs will not set it off very often. I have adjusted the sensitivity also to keep the dogs from setting it off very often. I need the light to come on when I unlatch the pen gate at night. I have it latched in three places, so it is not a quick job, expecially with excited wet noses pushing up against it. This light has never failed me, even in heavy rain. I may need to wave my arms a bit, to make it come back on after shutting off, but that is no problem at all. The primary thing that I need is the light to be bright to let me unlatch the gate, and then when I am leaving the pen, I hook up three of my dogs onto leashes (is that the way to spell it) and I need the light to let me find their collar rings to latch onto. Then, with the three dogs outside, pulling on me, I need the light to be bright to let me latch back the gate at the three places, to keep in the dogs that I leave behind inside the pen. I notice that the dogs do sometimes set off the light when they are jumping around by the gate, but not often enough to ever run down the battery. The light has never failed me. However, I must admit, when I first spliced in the longer wire between the solar panel and the light, I reversed the wires, and the light did not charge very well. I then switched the wires, after about a week, and it made a huge difference. Once I did have a correct connection, the LIGHT HAS ALWAYS CHARGED AND WORKED EVERY TIME THAT I NEEDED IT. This is a bright light, and it is excellent. I have had this working very well for six months so I decided it was time to enter my review. GET THIS LIGHT, IT WILL SERVE YOU WELL.
