Keeps the No-Smear Promise!
I am one who gets frustrated when the print is smeared by a highlighter, so I tried these Sharpie Accents with the hope (but not much confidence) that they would live up to their smear-guard hype. Well, it wasn't hype -- they really don't smear! I've used them on HP Deskjet printouts, grocery store receipts, ballpoint pens, magazine print, and even paperback book print. One swipe of the Sharpie leaves no smear at all. Although it wasn't needed, I tried an immediate second swipe over the fresh highlight and it left only the barest of smudge. The highlighters arrive in a nice little plastic storage case. The colors remain sharp and clear since they don't pick up ink from the print. It isn't a big thing, but the retractable nub is quite handy - I like not having to track down the pen tops after I've used the pen. I've very happy with the product and recommend it.
nice pens, but nib could be thicker...
Pros:
- retractable design - no more dealing with the cap (almost all my highlighters have dried out because the cap got dislodged in my bag, leaving big inks stains all over)
- nice "pen clip" on the pen so I can clip them onto my textbooks and not have to worry about digging around in my bag for them
- thin silhouette- no more fat marker style
- bright range of colors
- Sharpie performance - no bleed through, no smearing, quick to dry
- comes with a nice clear pen pouch so you can stow them in your bag
- would be great for kids doodling, as well as various art projects as well as highlighting
cons:
- nib is WAY too thin- you have to hold the pen just right to get a wide enough line to cover the text you are highlighting. Good if you like to just draw a think line through your text or are dealing with smaller than average text. You can just grab the pen and highlight.
- the colors are a tiny bit too dark- it's still easy to see the text through the marker, but it would be nice if a company introduced a lighter set of highlighters down the line.
I really like the portability and design of these highlighters, but the nibs are a little too hard and narrow. But I definitely will reach for these over my old highlighters.
Nice variety but still disappointing
I really like the variety of colors in this set. However, what is disappointing is that several colors are more "marker-like" than highliter. Once they dry, all colors are ok for being able to read the underlying text, but the indigo and purple are a little dark. These are more fine tipped than you big, normal highliter, but they do get the job done.
These are functional, but nothing to rave about.
